What should have been easy...
I was sick of the clunking noise and finally got around to replacing these. They are just a bolt and nut with some rubber bits along the way. Should be easy enough to do without having to jack up the vehicle.
...
(shimmies under vehicle)
8mm bolt head. Easy. 13mm socket will handle that.
(blindly feels other end of bolt)
“The heck? It’s just a flat piece of metal with no nut?”
Rat bastards!
I couldn’t get anything to grab while I was under the vehicle, so jacked it up, took the tires off and was able to vise grip the top fastener thing.
What should’ve taken maybe 30 minutes ended up taking almost 2 hours. Urph.

When I have to replace end links on my vehicles I just assume I’m going to have to cut them off.

Always happens, huh?
This weekend I spent an inordinate amount of time getting a frozen nut off a (no longer) welded stud and after having only partial luck with a nut splitter (because it was in such an obnoxious location), I ended up drilling the stud out entirely with titanium (iirc) bits which took forever again because of the location and also because it was a stupidly strong stud. In the end I think removing this nut ended up doubling the amount of time this job should have taken me. I feel you all too well...
